Orthogeriatrics Specialty Doctor

Geriatric Medicine locum doctor position at South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland — £60–£70/hr assignment rate.

Locum Specialty Doctor in Orthogeriatrics at Ulster Hospital, South Eastern HSC Trust.

This role involves the medical management of elderly patients with orthopaedic conditions, particularly fragility fractures. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing perioperative medical care, falls assessment, bone health management, and rehabilitation planning for older trauma patients.

Key responsibilities:

• Perioperative medical assessment and optimisation of elderly orthopaedic patients
• Management of acute medical conditions in the orthogeriatric unit
• Falls risk assessment and bone health management
• Liaison with orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthetists, and allied health professionals
• Discharge planning and coordination with community services
• Participation in departmental clinical governance activities

Requirements:

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Minimum Specialty Doctor level experience in Geriatric Medicine or Care of the Elderly
• Experience in orthogeriatric or perioperative medicine preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Professional indemnity insurance
