Emergency Medicine locum positions in Northern Ireland A&E departments. Acute trauma, resuscitation, and emergency care.
Emergency Medicine — also known as A&E or Accident & Emergency — is one of the highest-demand locum specialties across Northern Ireland's five HSC Trusts. Grayscale Medical places EM locums into the major emergency departments at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Mater Hospital (Belfast Trust), Ulster Hospital (South Eastern Trust), Antrim Area and Causeway Hospitals (Northern Trust), Craigavon Area and Daisy Hill Hospitals (Southern Trust), and Altnagelvin and South West Acute Hospital (Western Trust). Roles span SHO, Registrar (Specialty Trainee) and Consultant grades, covering day shifts, twilight, nights and resus cover. Typical NI EM locum assignment rates run from £50–£55/hr at SHO level and £60–£70/hr at Registrar/SAS level to £100–£110/hr for Consultants — among the most lucrative locum work in the region. All EM locum roles require full GMC registration with a licence to practise, an Enhanced AccessNI check, and ALS (and ideally APLS/ATLS) where appropriate.
