Psychiatry is a persistently high-demand locum specialty across Northern Ireland, spanning general adult, old age, child and adolescent (CAMHS), forensic, learning disability and liaison psychiatry. Roles are available at SHO, Specialty Trainee/SAS and Consultant grades, covering days, nights, weekends and on-call, including Mental Health Order assessments where appropriately approved. NI psychiatry locum assignment rates typically run from £50–£55/hr at SHO level to £60–£70/hr for ST3+/SAS grades and £100–£110/hr for Consultants. All roles require full GMC registration with a licence to practise and an Enhanced AccessNI check; approval under the Mental Health (NI) Order is an advantage for some posts.
