Emergency Medicine locum doctor position at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland — £60–£70/hr assignment rate.
Grayscale Medical is recruiting a Specialty Doctor for locum work in the Emergency Department Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Mater Infirmorum Hospital, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. This is a locum assignment at the £60/hr assignment rate, with multiple shifts available from late September through October 2026.
The role involves working across the Emergency Department's SDEC service, providing middle-grade medical cover across day shifts, evening shifts, and overnight on-calls. Shifts are available in a variety of patterns including 08:00–16:00, 13:00–21:00, 14:00–22:00, 14:30–22:30, 16:00–00:00, and 22:00–08:00. Over 60 individual shifts are available across this period, offering significant flexibility to build a schedule that works for you.
The SDEC unit manages acute medical presentations suitable for same-day assessment, investigation, and treatment, reducing the need for hospital admission. You will work as part of a busy multidisciplinary team managing undifferentiated acute presentations, performing clinical assessments, requesting and interpreting investigations, and formulating management plans independently.
Requirements include a minimum of Specialty Doctor or equivalent SAS grade experience in Emergency Medicine or Acute Medicine. You must hold valid GMC registration with a licence to practise, have the right to work in the UK, hold up-to-date DBS/AccessNI clearance, and carry professional indemnity insurance. A minimum of two professional references is required.
