Specialty Doctor - Emergency Medicine (ED SDEC)

Emergency Medicine locum doctor position at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland — £60–£70/hr assignment rate.

Locum Specialty Doctor (Middle Grade) required in the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Mater Infirmorum Hospital, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. Multiple shifts available from September 2026 at an assignment rate of £60/hr.

This is an ongoing requirement for middle grade cover across the Belfast Trust ED and SDEC services. Shifts include a mix of day, evening, and night patterns (08:00–16:00, 14:00–22:00, 16:00–00:00, 22:00–08:00) across weekdays and weekends. You will be working as part of the emergency medicine team providing senior decision-making in the ED, managing acute undifferentiated presentations, and supporting the SDEC pathway for patients requiring same-day assessment and treatment.

The role requires confident independent practice at middle grade level, with the ability to manage the ED floor, supervise junior trainees, and liaise with specialist teams. Weekend and out-of-hours cover is a core part of this assignment.

Candidates must hold valid GMC registration with a licence to practise, up-to-date AccessNI clearance, right to work in the UK, and a minimum of two professional references. Emergency medicine experience at middle grade level is essential.
