Locum Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychiatry of Old Age (Inpatients) at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. £100–£110/hr assignment rate. 10 PA post commencing end of June / beginning of July 2026 for 3 months initially.
The BHSCT Psychiatry of Old Age service provides comprehensive inpatient assessment and treatment for older adults with complex mental health needs including dementia, late-onset depression, late-onset psychosis, and delirium. As a locum consultant you will lead the inpatient ward team, conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, develop and oversee care and treatment plans, liaise with multidisciplinary teams and social care, contribute to Mental Health Act processes, and provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff. This is a substantive 10 PA consultant locum post covering inpatient work.
Doctors’ files must be fully checked by the agency to ensure adherence to the HSC Framework criteria prior to submission to the Trust. Essential requirements include GMC full registration with licence to practise, Specialist Register entry in Psychiatry (Old Age Psychiatry desirable), right to work in the UK, AccessNI clearance, valid professional indemnity insurance, and two recent consultant-level references.
