The Cardiology department at Belfast HSC Trust is seeking a Consultant Cardiologist with acute care expertise to join the team from September 2026 through January 2027. This is a separate post from the Ambulatory Care position, focused on the acute cardiology service.
The post holder will form part of the consultant team providing Cardiology services at the Belfast Trust, with a key role in ensuring sustainable, high-quality acute cardiac care. The Ambulatory Cardiology Unit (ACU) at Belfast City Hospital provides specialist cardiac assessment within 72 hours for patients with recent-onset symptoms including breathlessness with elevated NT-proBNP, new-onset symptomatic arrhythmia, and unexplained syncope.
The successful candidate will contribute to the emergency clinical on-call service, Consultant of the Week rota, and elective outpatient care. MDT attendance is expected for complex case governance. The role includes ward work, teaching, and a cardio-oncology joint clinic.
