General Surgery locum doctor position at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland — £50–£55/hr assignment rate.
Grayscale Medical is recruiting a Core Trainee for a locum night shift in General Surgery at Belfast City Hospital (BCH), part of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. The shift runs on Friday 6th November 2026 from 20:00 to 08:30, at a competitive assignment rate of £50/hr.
This position covers overnight surgical on-call at BCH, one of Belfast Trust's major acute hospital sites alongside the Royal Victoria Hospital. You will be responsible for managing surgical admissions, assessing acute surgical presentations, supporting theatre cases as required, and providing ward cover for post-operative patients. The General Surgery department at BCH handles a high volume of emergency and elective surgical cases, making this an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Candidates at CT or FY2 level are invited to apply. You must hold valid GMC registration with a licence to practise, have the right to work in the UK, and hold current DBS/AccessNI clearance. Professional indemnity insurance and a minimum of two professional references are required. Previous experience in general surgery and confidence in managing common surgical emergencies is essential.
