Specialty Trainee - Emergency Medicine (SDEC / Middle Grade)

Emergency Medicine locum doctor position at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland — £70/hr.

Grayscale Medical is recruiting a Specialty Trainee (Middle Grade) in Emergency Medicine for the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) and Mater Infirmorum Hospital (MIH), Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. This HSC locum doctor role offers £70/hr across flexible shift patterns from 22 June 2026.

The RVH Emergency Department is one of Northern Ireland's busiest acute units, managing high-acuity and undifferentiated emergency presentations across a large urban catchment. The SDEC unit supports ambulatory emergency pathways, reducing inpatient demand. Shifts cover 8–13 hour patterns including evenings (18:00–02:00), night shifts (22:00–08:30), and standard days, with multiple slots available through to the end of July 2026. The MIH site also has Middle Grade requirements on specific dates.

Requirements: ST3+ or equivalent Middle Grade experience in Emergency Medicine; valid GMC registration with licence to practise; AccessNI clearance; right to work in the UK; sufficient EM experience to work autonomously at Middle Grade level within the BHSCT framework. HSE Encompass training is advantageous.

Apply through Grayscale Medical for compliance support, fast-track credentialing, and dedicated account management. We place locum doctors across all 5 NI HSC trusts.
