Grayscale Medical is urgently recruiting an Ophthalmology Medical Retina Consultant for a locum position at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, from April through to 4th August 2026. This is a high-profile locum consultant opportunity in Ophthalmology in Northern Ireland, offering a £100–£110/hr assignment rate.
The Ophthalmology department at Royal Victoria Hospital requires an experienced Medical Retina Consultant to provide specialist cover. The successful candidate will be responsible for medical retina clinics, management of complex retinal conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, and uveitis. Full consultant-level responsibility including outpatient clinics and cross-specialty liaison.
Candidates must have their complete NHS locum file as per the HSC SS20a Framework Contract (new framework contract). Encompass training is mandatory. Only fully compliant CV packs will be considered — incomplete files or applications not at contracted rates will not be progressed.
Requirements: Valid GMC registration with specialist registration in Ophthalmology, Medical Retina subspecialty experience, right to work in the UK, up-to-date AccessNI clearance, professional indemnity insurance, minimum 2 professional references.
