SHO Cardiology Locum - Royal Victoria Hospital

Cardiology locum doctor position at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland — £50–£55/hr assignment rate.

Locum SHO opportunity in Cardiology at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. This short-term locum block covers 28-31 July 2026 with shifts running 8am-5pm (and one extended shift 8am-8:30pm on the 28th). The assignment rate is £50/hr.

You will join the inpatient Cardiology team at the RVH, providing ward cover, clerking admissions, managing acutely unwell cardiac patients, and supporting the on-call medical team. The department requires a doctor with a minimum of six months' NHS experience, including at least four months in Cardiology. The successful candidate must be Encompass trained.

Daily responsibilities include reviewing cardiology inpatients, interpreting ECGs and cardiac investigations, liaising with cardiology registrars and consultants, managing chest pain pathways, and participating in ward rounds. You will be expected to manage common cardiac presentations including acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-procedure monitoring.

Requirements: Valid GMC registration with licence to practise, right to work in the UK, up-to-date AccessNI clearance, minimum 6 months NHS experience (4 months in Cardiology), Encompass training completed, professional indemnity insurance, ALS/ILS certification, and two professional references in Cardiology or General Medicine.
